CTET Registration 2026 Starts Soon. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the date for the 21st edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026. Aspiring teachers across India can mark February 8, 2026 (Sunday) on their calendars, as this will be the day when the nation-wide eligibility test takes place.
CTET Registration 2026: Key Details
The registration process for CTET 2026 will begin soon on the official website ctet.nic.in. Candidates are advised to prepare their scanned photograph and signature beforehand and ensure they have details like state and identification type ready. The examination fee is set at Rs 1,000 for a single paper and Rs 1,200 for both papers.
How to Apply:
- Visit the official CTET website and click on ‘Apply Online’.
- Fill out the online application form and note your Registration/Application Number.
- Upload your latest scanned photograph and signature.
- Pay the examination fee via debit/credit card or net banking.
- Print the confirmation page for future reference.
CTET Exam Structure:
CTET 2026 will consist of two papers:
- Paper-I: For candidates aspiring to teach Classes 1 to 5.
- Paper-II: For candidates aiming to teach Classes 6 to 8.
Both papers will feature 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark, and no negative marking will be applied. The exam will be conducted in 20 languages across 132 cities nationwide, making it accessible to a diverse pool of candidates.
Eligibility and Scope:
CTET certification is valid for recruitment in schools under the central government, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, Central Tibetan Schools, and schools run by Union Territories like Delhi, Chandigarh, Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Daman & Diu. Some private unaided schools may also consider CTET scores for teacher appointments.
Following a recent Supreme Court ruling, CTET qualification has become mandatory for in-service teachers, sparking discussions among teacher associations, especially regarding promotion eligibility across states.
